Garland,TX--Move over major fast-food franchises, there's a new burger joint in town, and its chosen the Lone Star State. In-N-Out Burger received approval from the city of Garland, at the end of May, to expand their franchise to Texas: the farthest east the company has ever been.

The business was founded in 1948 and has 240 chain-units covering the states of California, Nevada, Utah and Arizona. The new establishment will be located adjacent to Fire wheel Mall off of I-90 George Bush Toll way and Highway 78.

The franchise plans to open other locations in the Dallas/ Fort Worth metroplex because a new patty production and distribution center will be constructed here, Carl Van Fleet, Vice President for Planning and Development from In-N-Out Burger, said.

"It is far enough away that we will have to open a new one there as we remain committed to making our hamburger patties… a standard that has been in place for 62 years," said, Van Fleet.

The city of Garland is eager to add the California staple to their already familiar location, Dorothy White, Public and Media Affairs Manager for the city of Garland, said.

"As you might imagine, there is still a great deal that has to happen before we actually open for business in Texas, so it would be premature to try to speculate about possible opening dates," said Van Fleet

In-N-Out Burger prides itself on never serving frozen beef patties. The business is determined to live up to this mission statement. The opportunity to view the process of the burgers being crafted through glass windows as the customer circles the business is a special element offered by this franchise, according to In-N-Out Burger's website.

"People are going to be interested in having a real fast food place that is more like a sit-down restaurant so they can get their food quickly, but it will taste better because it'll be fresher," Janna McDonald, a Richland undecided sophomore, said.

McDonald visited the franchise, on the west coast, last year and personally enjoyed one of In-N-Out Burgers infamous meals. She is very excited about the expansion to Texas and believes that there will be better-tasting food options and more job opportunities available.
