Richland theater lighting designer dies

Cris Bay-Andersen, lighting designer at Richland College, died in his sleep the weekend of Feb. 6-7, just a a few days before his 45th birthday, according to Chuck Sheffield, professor of theater.

Bay-Andersen was a former Richland student in the early 1980s. He took drama classes for two or three years, then transferred to Southern Methodist University and later attended Southwest Texas State University. He worked professionally in drama around the country in a number of cities, including Eastfield College in Mesquite.

Bay-Andersen lived in McKinney and had been employed for the last four or five years at the Richland Drama Department.
